Assistant Coach

The Role

The assistant coaches (multiple positions) for both the Men’s and Women’s programs will support the senior teams in the Premier League and Pennant competitions.

In supporting the program, the Assistant Coaches will work with the Premier League Head Coaches.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Coaches include:

  • Support the Senior Coach to deliver the Senior hockey program.
  • Support the Senior Coach in developing and implementing team and player development.
  • Coach the reserves or lower grade team/s on match day.
  • Support the Senior Coach to plan and implement the training program.
  • Support the Senior Coach in leading full squad training for pre-season sessions and weekly training sessions in-season.
  • Communicate and provide feedback to players regarding their development, progress and performance.
  • Build relationships with the Junior coaches and players.

Desirable Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

The following skills, experience are desired for the successful applicant:

  • Level 1 or Level 2 coaching qualifications for field hockey.
  • Previous experience as a coach or assistant coach of a men’s, women’s, or junior hockey team, including developing players and implementing a game plan.
  • Previous experience developing junior players.
  • Well-developed communication, relationship, and leadership skills.
  • Current Working with Children Check.

This position may be voluntary or renumeration may be negotiated with the successful applicant based on skills, experience and qualifications.
