Masters and weeknight hockey offer another way to stay involved at Greensborough Hockey Club. Competition, improvement, friendship and a commitment that fits your life can all matter. If you are returning after time away or looking for a different weekly commitment, ask which current option suits you.
Learning together in Masters
GHC’s Masters teams coach themselves. Players shape their team’s approach together, choosing the playing ideas and preparation that help them. A team might discuss a recurring problem, try one manageable adjustment and notice whether it helps. No appointed coach, compulsory training programme or written review is assumed.
For practical ideas, see Self-coached Masters — worthwhile hockey and shared experience. Newcomers can ask the teammate organising the activity or the section contact how the team works and who can help them settle. Playing Masters matters in its own right, whether or not you also help another team.
Choosing a competition
Greensborough participates in Hockey Victoria competitions. The available teams, age eligibility and competition formats can change between seasons.
Tell the club your age, playing background, availability and preferred level of hockey. We can help you find a suitable current group before you register.
Share your experience, if it suits you
Willing Masters players can also mentor, coach or assist junior and senior teams. A short demonstration, help with part of a session or a conversation with a newer coach can be a useful starting point. Playing experience is valuable; preparation and support still matter.
Ask about the task, time involved, safeguarding requirements and who will support you before agreeing. Choose something that fits your own hockey, recovery and other commitments. Coaching is voluntary and is not a condition of playing Masters. You can enquire about helping or speak with your section contact.
When are games played?
Check the current Hockey Victoria fixture for your team’s match dates, start times and venue. Do not rely on a previous season’s schedule.
If you are exploring Masters or weeknight hockey, ask the club about the current playing nights and commitment before making plans.
New to Masters or returning after time away? Ask which current group and first activity suit you before registering. Ask about Masters using the New Player Enquiry Form, or use the WhatsApp option below. Colin Riordan will review your enquiry and connect you with the right club contact.
