Greensborough Hockey Club is building the GHC Future Fund as a long-term funding stream to strengthen the next generation of players, families, coaches and volunteers.
Community sport is becoming more expensive, harder to staff and increasingly dependent on volunteer capacity. Fees, sponsorships, canteen income, events and grants all matter, but they do not always create the flexible long-term funding needed to improve coaching, junior development, equipment, participation access and club capacity.
Why a Future Fund matters
The Future Fund gives GHC a disciplined, tax-deductible giving pathway through the Australian Sports Foundation. Donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible through the ASF.
The aim is to strengthen Burra beyond one season at a time and build a more resilient funding base for future development.
First-stage priorities
- Junior development and coaching
- Coach education and capability
- Shared training equipment
- Beginner and participation support
- Participation access and inclusive pathways
- Facility and community improvements
- Long-term club sustainability
Governance and transparency
The Future Fund is intended to operate with clear purpose, practical oversight and regular reporting. Funding categories should be explicit, donations should remain separate from sponsorship and membership, and donors should receive meaningful updates on progress and impact.
Future Fund support is for club-wide development rather than individual outcomes.
Why leadership gifts can matter
Early leadership gifts can help a new fund become credible, visible and sustainable. They can build confidence, create momentum, encourage others to give, support matched-giving challenges and help establish an annual giving culture.
This draft is intended for review before any wider public campaign. The leadership-gift pathway should be approached carefully and personally, with clear information about how funds will be used and reported.
The donation pathway
The Future Fund is voluntary and separate from membership, sponsorship, voting rights, commercial benefits and team selection.
