Greensborough Hockey Club depends on volunteers, but helping the club does not have to mean taking on a large job or committing every week.
For 2027, GHC wants it to be easier for members, parents, players, families and supporters to find a way to help that fits their time, interests and confidence.
Start small
One of the best ways to begin volunteering is with a manageable task. You might be able to help occasionally, for a few weeks, on Saturday mornings, at junior games, with a specific event, or with work that can be done away from the ground.
A small contribution done reliably can make a meaningful difference. You do not need to know every club role before putting your hand up.
Different people can help in different ways
Some volunteers prefer practical game-day jobs. Others are more comfortable with planning, communication, technology, fundraising, events or administration. Some can help regularly, while others only have a small amount of time available.
The aim is to match the contribution to the person rather than assume every volunteer should take on the same type of commitment.
Looking at roles is not a commitment
Exploring volunteer roles does not mean you are agreeing to take one on. It is simply a way to understand where help is needed and what might suit you.
In many cases, the next step is only a conversation. The club can help shape a role around the time and skills you actually have available.
Ways to find the right role
If you are connected to the junior program, start with the Junior Program Volunteer Roles page.
If you are open to helping but are not sure where you fit, use the Volunteer Role Finder. It is designed to help you explore different kinds of contribution based on your interests and availability.
Prefer a simple first step?
You can also skip the role search and simply tell the club that you are willing to help. Use the Volunteer Interest Form and someone from GHC can follow up.
You can read the broader Volunteer Overview if you want to understand how volunteering works across the club.
Help in a way that works for you
Community sport works best when volunteering is practical and sustainable. You do not need to arrive with a job title in mind. Start with the amount of time you can realistically give, the kinds of tasks you are comfortable with and the parts of the club you would like to support.
Register your interest in volunteering for 2027 and take the first step without committing to more than you can manage.
