Coaching is one of the most practical ways to contribute to hockey at Greensborough, and you do not need to arrive knowing everything before you begin.
Some people already have coaching experience. Others start by helping at training, supporting a junior group, assisting another coach or learning how sessions are organised. The important first step is finding a level of involvement that suits your experience, confidence and available time.
There is more than one way to coach
Coaching does not always mean taking sole responsibility for a team. Depending on the program and what the club needs, people may contribute by assisting at training, helping players in smaller groups, supporting game-day preparation or working alongside another coach.
If you are interested in a larger role, you can also start a conversation about what opportunities may be appropriate for the 2027 season.

Greensborough's coaching approach is built around helping players enjoy hockey, develop confidence, learn skills, understand the game and feel connected to their team.
For younger players, that means active, age-appropriate sessions with plenty of involvement. For junior and senior club players, it means connecting skill development with the decisions and situations players face in matches.
You can learn while you help
Many community coaches are volunteers, parents, players or supporters who continue learning as they coach. You do not need to present yourself as a finished coach before making contact.
