Bob Aldersea’s service to Greensborough Hockey Club spans junior, senior and representative hockey. As he steps down as Men’s Premier League team manager, we are preparing to thank him for that wider contribution.
Bob Aldersea’s wider service to Greensborough Hockey Club
Bob served as a junior chairperson and Men’s Chairperson and managed state indoor and masters teams. Together, these roles show how often he has stepped in where teams needed dependable support. Archived club notices give a glimpse of the everyday work behind those titles. For example, Bob helped prospective and returning players, communicated men’s team selections and gathered interest in indoor hockey. In a 2005 club bulletin, Bob Aldersea was listed as the committee’s men’s representative. In recognition of that sustained service, the club awarded Bob life membership in 2009.
33 years with the Men’s Premier League team
The club’s Facebook tribute captures the scale of his Men’s Premier League commitment: 33 years as team manager, 653 games, 10 coaches and 124 players supported, with 12 grand final appearances during that time. Behind those numbers are many seasons of preparation, match days and practical care. Through changes in the team, a reliable manager also gives players and coaches continuity.
Bob Aldersea’s contribution has reached different parts of our club over many years. Whether helping someone find a place in a team or handling the detail behind a match day, he has given players and coaches steady support. Above all, we are grateful for his time and the example he has set as a volunteer.
