Greensborough’s Women’s 35+ team earned a place in the 2026 grand final after coming through a tense shootout in their qualifying final.
The result was part of a strong midweek finals campaign for the Burra, with the Women’s 35+ side joining the Men’s 40+ team in progressing to their respective grand finals.
A hard-earned path to the decider
The Women’s 35+ side had to work right through to a shootout to secure their grand final berth. Coming through a pressure finish like that is a significant achievement and reflects the resilience and composure required in finals hockey.
Their reward was a grand final against Hawthorn, scheduled for Wednesday 9 September at 8:45 pm.

The result added to a successful run for Greensborough’s midweek teams during the 2026 finals series. These competitions give players another pathway to stay involved in hockey, compete with their teammates and represent the club across the week.
