Some of the strongest moments in a hockey season happen away from the ball.
They are the moments when the Burra crowd gathers along the fence, celebrates a goal, lifts a team through a tight finish, or simply shows up because another Greensborough side is playing.

Support that connects the club
Greensborough is made up of many teams, age groups and competitions, but a strong supporter culture helps make those separate teams feel like one club. Players notice when people from other teams stay to watch. Juniors notice senior players on the sideline. Families meet people they may not otherwise know. Past players reconnect with the club through big matches and finals.
That shared presence matters. It creates atmosphere, but it also builds familiarity across the club and gives players the sense that their match matters to more than the people named on the team sheet.
More than finals support
The 2026 season has produced some memorable examples. The club’s own Facebook updates have repeatedly thanked strong Burra crowds for turning up to support teams, including the U12 Mixed premiership and the M40+ grand final.
Those occasions are especially visible, but the same culture is built during ordinary home-and-away weekends when people arrive early, stay after their own match or head to another ground to support a fellow Burra team.
Part of the Burra identity
A hockey club is strongest when support flows in more than one direction. Players compete for the club, volunteers make the day possible, families provide the weekly commitment, and supporters help create the atmosphere that connects it all.
The Burra crowd is therefore more than background noise. It is one of the ways Greensborough shows what belonging to a club can look like.
