Summer hockey Round 1 results: NDHL12 gets under way

Summer hockey Round 1 results are in, with Laurimar, Research, Doreen and Diamond Creek opening the 2026–27 NDHL12 season with wins at Greensborough Hockey Club on Monday 5 October.

The four matches produced 18 goals across the two grounds. Laurimar and Plenty shared eight of them, while Research and Doreen each won by a single goal. Diamond Creek recorded the largest winning margin and the only clean sheet of the opening round.

Laurimar Power beat Plenty Force 5–3 in the highest-scoring match of the night. Plenty scored three times, but Laurimar’s five goals secured the opening points.

Research Rebels started with a 2–1 win over St Helena Saints. Doreen Devils also won 2–1, against Eltham Panthers, leaving both winning sides with a goal difference of plus one.

Diamond Creek Demons defeated Whittlesea Warriors 4–0. That result puts the Demons at the top of the first ladder on goal difference, ahead of Laurimar, Research and Doreen.

The season is under way

Stuart Young’s pre-season update reported 135 players drafted across eight teams for NDHL12. The summer programme again includes first-time players and new Burra juniors, alongside players returning to enjoy hockey with and against familiar faces.

The fixture covers 15 rounds and finals. Round 1 is only the start, but all eight teams now have their first match behind them as the Monday-night competition settles into the season.

Research and Doreen meet after both winning their opening matches. Elsewhere, St Helena, Whittlesea, Eltham and Plenty will be looking for their first points.
