Four Greensborough juniors have an exciting next step ahead after earning selection in the 2026 HCM Futures squads. Congratulations to Kade Coulthard, Khushbaaz Hundal, Cruz Trounce and Aimee Retief on this achievement.
Their selection brings a new development opportunity beyond club hockey, with the HCM Futures programme leading towards the Futures Hockey League in Auckland, New Zealand, from 5–12 December 2026.
Meet our HCM Futures selections
GHC’s four selected players are:
- U17 boys: Kade Coulthard, Khushbaaz Hundal and Cruz Trounce.
- U17 girls: Aimee Retief.
It is wonderful to see Burra juniors taking this next step. Each player has a new challenge to look forward to as they join the HCM Futures development programme.
A pathway towards higher-level hockey
Hockey Victoria describes HCM Futures as a development pathway that connects emerging players with Hockey Club Melbourne’s standards, culture and high-performance environment. The 2026 programme combines domestic match opportunities with an international tournament in December.
The 2026 HCM Futures programme
HV’s published programme sets out three main stages:
- Melbourne — 25 October: Futures matches alongside the HC Melbourne–Melbourne Cobras derby and the Vikings and Vipers Past Players Day.
- Bendigo — 7–8 November: matches against South Australian development teams, coinciding with the Melbourne Cobras–Adelaide Fire weekend.
- Auckland — 5–12 December: the Futures Hockey League at King’s College, New Zealand.
The proposed Auckland schedule includes round-robin matches, a mid-tournament rest or optional training day, and a final day on 12 December. These are HV’s published plans; supporters should check the organiser’s latest information before making arrangements.
For Kade, Khush, Cruz and Aimee, selection offers the chance to keep developing their hockey in a new environment. The programme gives them opportunities beyond their regular club competition, with the Auckland event providing a focus for the months ahead.
