What Does a Hockey Volunteer Actually Do?

When people hear the word volunteer, they sometimes imagine a large ongoing commitment. At a community hockey club, volunteering can be much more flexible and varied.

Practical help on club days

Volunteers may help prepare spaces, welcome families, organise equipment, support the canteen, assist with events or make sure activities run smoothly.

Behind-the-scenes contribution

Other roles involve communication, administration, technology, fundraising, planning or helping teams stay organised. These contributions may happen away from the field and can often be completed in manageable pieces.

Finding a role that fits

The best volunteer role is one that matches your time, interests and confidence. Some people help occasionally, while others prefer a regular responsibility. Both forms of contribution matter.

If you would like to help at Burra, contact the club and ask about current opportunities.
