Volunteer Overview
Greensborough Hockey Club is built on the contribution of volunteers.
Like most community sporting clubs, the club depends on members, parents, players, families and supporters helping in practical ways across the season. Some roles are visible on game day. Others happen quietly in the background. All of them help make the club work.
Volunteering at Greensborough does not need to mean taking on a large job straight away. Many roles can be small, flexible or shared with others.
Start small
The best way to begin is often with a small task, a short conversation or a role that fits your availability.
You might be able to help:
- occasionally
- for a few weeks
- on Saturday mornings
- at junior games
- with a specific event
- with administration or communication
- with coaching, team support or player development
- behind the scenes
You do not need to know the whole club or understand every role before offering to help.
Volunteering should fit the person
Different people can help in different ways.
Some people have regular time each week. Others can help only occasionally. Some prefer practical jobs at the ground. Others are more comfortable with planning, communication, technology, fundraising, events, coaching or administration.
The aim is to match people with roles that suit their time, skills, confidence and interests.
Choosing a role is not an immediate commitment
Looking at volunteer roles does not mean you are agreeing to take one on.
It is a way to understand what help is needed and where you might be comfortable contributing. In many cases, the next step is simply a conversation.
The club can help shape a role around what is realistic for you.
Ways to get involved
Junior Program Volunteer Roles
For parents and helpers connected to Saturday Morning Hockey, junior teams and junior development.
This is a good starting point if you are involved with Hookin2Hockey, Under 6, Under 8, Under 10 or junior club competition.
Volunteer Role Finder
Use the Volunteer Role Finder if you want to explore different types of roles based on your interests, availability and confidence.
This is useful if you are open to helping but not sure where you might fit.
Register Interest in Volunteering
Use this option if you would like someone from the club to contact you about helping.
This is the simplest option if you do not want to work through the full Role Finder.
Not sure where you fit?
That is normal.
Many volunteers start by saying they are willing to help but are not sure what they can do. The club can work with that. A small contribution, done reliably, can make a meaningful difference.
If you are willing to help, start with the option that feels easiest.
