WE HOPE FOR HOCKEY TO BE BACK SOONER RATHER THAN LATER Hockey Australia CEO Matt Favier reiterated the primary focus for HA and every MA continues to be on getting local competitions started up again, and he is buoyed by the recent commentary by government authorities.
Coaches are the face of community sports programs and their interaction with participants is likely to influence short and long-term participation outcomes. Coaches not only work with the participants, they also engage with parents, families, and communities to create a positive environment.
The project finally started yesterday 23 April 2020. The site fencing is a bit more extensive than expected but not an issue while we’re in lock down. Demolition will not start for another month due to a delay in having the Power Board relocated.
Every indication tells us it will be months before the Government decides to lift the restrictions on community sport and we can play hockey again. As a club need to be ready to go.
It is with sadness that we pass on the news that John Glover passed away yesterday morning (14/04/20) at the age of 90. John was a founding member of the club, who served as the clubs first Treasurer from 1961-65, President from 1981-82 and was awarded Life Membership in 1976.
