Hit Harder

Hi everyone, and welcome to a new training tutorial. Today, we’ll be discussing forward receiving into the D to maximize the power of your shot.

The angle at which you enter the D is crucial for generating power on your shot. Often, when the ball is passed from left to right, we tend to let it go and end up shooting from a difficult angle. To ensure maximum power, try to push the ball towards the goal when receiving it and create forward motion. This allows you to shoot from a better angle. When the ball comes to your right foot, make sure to push it towards the goal in one touch. For example, if the ball comes from the left, push it to the right and then take the shot. To help with this, I’ve set up some cones as markers. Instead of letting the ball roll outside the cones and shooting from there, I’ll push it inside the cones to create a 90-degree angle before taking the shot.

Now, let’s talk about the importance of shoulder positioning when shooting on your forehand. When the ball comes from the left, your shoulders should be open, facing towards the goal. As you receive the ball and bring it into the D, turn your shoulders so that they are directly facing the goal. Your left shoulder serves as your aiming point. By aligning your shoulders towards the goal, you can move sideways and generate maximum power. You can practice this by placing your stick against your shoulders. When you receive the ball, bring your shoulders in line with the stick, and observe where the stick is pointing. That’s the direction you’ll be shooting. If your shoulders are too open or closed, you’ll have a higher chance of shooting wide or off target. Aim to align your shoulders with the direction of your stick to increase accuracy.

Thank you for watching, and remember to practice these techniques to improve your forward receiving and shooting skills.
