High Reverse Backhand

To start practicing the high upright backhand shot, there are a few key points to keep in mind.

Firstly, understand where you want to make contact with the ball on your stick. Unlike other shots, such as a forehand or a flat reverse, the high upright backhand requires hitting the ball on a specific part of the stick. Aim to hit the ball on the upper portion of the stick.

Next, focus on your body positioning. While a traditional reverse shot requires getting low, the high upright backhand shot is performed in a more upright position. Keep the ball close to your feet and maintain an upright stance, with your stick at a steeper angle. This allows for maximum power and control.

Pay attention to your grip as well. Normally, a reverse shot involves a specific grip, but for the high upright backhand, you’ll need to adjust it slightly. Turn your stick a bit further so that the hook of the stick is facing downward. This positioning helps you achieve optimal contact on the desired part of the stick.

Additionally, it’s important to keep your head above the ball. Unlike other shots where your head may be farther away from the ball, for the high upright backhand, your end position should have your head and shoulders directly above the ball. This provides better balance and allows for maximum power generation.
