2006 – THE YEAR OF ‘THE BURRA’!
MAJOR FUNDING GRANT ANNOUNCED BY MINISTER JUSTIN MADDEN!
Monday 30 October 2006 will be marked as a special day in the history of the Greensborough Hockey Club.
Minister for Sport & Recreation Justin Madden MP announced at the Clubrooms yesterday Major Grant Funding for the establishment of the second ground. The announcement of $750,000 has secured the second ground as a reality, which many, if not all of us at the Club, know is really needed.
On behalf of the Club I wish to say thanks to the State Government, Minister Madden and of course our Number 1 Ticket Holder, the Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green. Danielle is a strong supporter of the Club and her hard work in lobbying government for the major funding grant has certainly ensured the grant application was successful.
Thanks also to the Mayor, Cr. Greg Johnson and the Nillumbik Shire Council for their efforts in supporting the Club with the grant application. Council Officer’s Vin Mackay and Darren Bennett have also been of tremendous support and help as the Board has worked through a tireless 18 month process of securing the funding.
Now that the funding has been announced, the real work starts! The Club still needs to raise additional funding toward the completion of the second ground, and for that, all of us at the Club will need to continue to work hard together to see the ground established and operating.
Finally to the many members of the Club who have worked hard, which has culminated in the announcement of the Major Funding Grant I wish to say a personnel – THANK YOU!
The announcement yesterday tops off what could only be described as an extraordinary year for the Greensborough Hockey Club. I look forward to seeing the momentum at the Club continuing in 2007, and beyond, as all of us continue to work hard to build the Greensborough Hockey Club from strength to strength.
GO BURRA!
