This is an assessment of our current position before you decide on any new strategies. Strengths and Weaknesses are internal factors – that is, to do with the Greensborough Hockey Club, its assets, processes, and people. Opportunities and Threats are external factors, arising from our market, your competition, and the wider economy.

Weaknesses
These are inherent things we should avoid (our people, resources, systems, and procedures).
- Coaching depth and no coaching leadership
- Low interest by the rest of club in the activities of the committee
- Men’s squad is experienced by needs younger players
- Do not have a centralised database
- Women’s third team needs to be a higher grade
- General apathy towards volunteering e.g., working bees and tournaments
- Low number of state players
- Low involvement by ex-players
- Budgetary process is poor
- Most junior shield teams in B grade
- Women’s PL need a boost, players with experience and higher-level skills
- Transition from juniors to seniors
- Over reliance on drills for training-needs to be more game-like in tempo
- Social cohesion does not cover all levels
- Grounds maintenance
- Revenue is highly dependent on fees
- Talent identification is not well developed
- Need more mentoring of younger players and coaches
- Need more coaches and umpires to become accredited
- Senior teams are split into three distinct groups

- Other hockey clubs seen to have better programs
- Players discontinuing sport altogether because no enjoyment
- Extra compliance placing greater demands on volunteers
