The Chop

In this elimination move the objective is to lift the ball off the ground at a moderate height. To achieve this, it’s important to strike the top part of the ball, just above the center, with a 45-degree angle of attack. Position your feet in front of the ball to make it easier to hit the ball on the top and create lift. This positioning allows for better control and execution of the move.

When it comes to hand placement, position one hand about halfway down the grip, ensuring a comfortable distance between both hands. This grip enables you to tap the ball on top and accelerate smoothly for a shot or continuation of play.

Maintaining control after executing the chop is crucial. Avoid hitting the ball too far away from yourself, as it can give the defender an opportunity to intercept it. Instead, keep the ball within your reach by bringing it inside and ensuring it stays within your immediate playing area.

By focusing on these techniques, including striking the ball at the right angle, positioning your hands correctly, and maintaining control, you can effectively execute the chop and navigate past defenders while retaining possession of the ball.
