Short Grip Shot

The short grip shot is useful when the ball is close to your feet and there is limited space to swing the stick. In such situations, the regular shooting technique may not be possible as there is a risk of hitting the ground with the stick. To overcome this, you can use a short grip shot. Instead of bringing your right hand down to your left as you would in a regular shot, you bring your left hand to your right, creating a short grip.

Here’s how it works:

1. Position the ball close to your left foot.
2. If the ball is too close to your feet, bring your right foot inwards and step out with your left foot.
3. From this position, take the shot. It’s important to combine the short grip shot with footwork.

When the ball is close to your feet, you need to create space to turn and shoot. Typically, this involves moving your left foot away from the ball before executing the shot.

4. Make a quick backswing and follow through using your wrists, rather than relying on a full shoulder swing. This allows for a faster and more surprising shot.

By using the short grip shot, you can adapt to tight spaces and take quick shots without compromising power or control.
