Open Receiving

In open receiving, the positioning of your arms, shoulders, and feet plays a crucial role in enabling quick forward motion. When receiving the ball, it’s important to let it roll a bit further on your stick, allowing for forward momentum.

Your shoulders are particularly important in open receiving. If you receive the ball with closed shoulders, it restricts your ability to move forward. To address this, as you receive the ball, make sure to turn your shoulders and open them up. This allows you to face the direction you want to move and enables quick forward progression.

In addition to shoulders, the placement of your feet is vital in open receiving. If the pass is coming from a certain direction, initially your feet may be pointing towards the passer. However, as you see the ball coming, start turning your feet in the direction you want to go. This adjustment ensures that when you receive the ball, your feet are already positioned for a forward sprint.

By focusing on the alignment of your arms, shoulders, and feet in open receiving, you can enhance your ability to quickly transition into forward movement and maintain control of the ball.
