Elimination Moves

Today, we’re going to explore three new elimination moves that you can practice and add to your repertoire. Let’s get started!

The first move I want to show you is called the Roller Coaster. It involves a double fake towards the forehand of the defender, followed by a quick spin over the backhand. The key to this move is creating deception and making the defender commit to the wrong direction. Start by faking to the left, then quickly change direction to the right. Place your stick in front of the ball to stop its motion, and swiftly spin around to accelerate past the defender’s backhand. Remember to make the move wide to ensure the defender commits before executing the spin.

Now, let’s move on to the next elimination move, which combines two familiar techniques. Start by performing a chop, lifting the ball over the defender’s stick. What makes this move unique is that you maintain control of the ball on your forehand by using the chop lift technique. This allows you to move sideways while still keeping the ball in a favorable position. It’s especially effective when approaching the baseline on the left side.

The third move we’ll be discussing is commonly used by Indian players and players like Valentin Verga. To execute this move, you need to fully commit to the forehand side of the defender with your right foot. Just when the defender is anticipating your movement towards the forehand, pull back and quickly change direction over your left foot. Use your footwork to generate speed and move past the defender. This move requires a strong commitment to the initial direction and a quick change of direction to catch the defender off guard.

To practice this move, start by stepping out with your right foot while simultaneously moving the ball in that direction. Then quickly bring the ball back and change direction to your left foot.
