Insurance

Greensborough HC asks that you visit the Hockey Victoria web site and take the time to read the insurance information here and encourage your player’s parents/guardians to do the same. It is most important all are aware of the coverage provided and the procedure to follow in the event of a claim prior to an incident arising. Failure to be aware of the extent of coverage and procedures to follow often leads to unnecessary delays and, in some cases, disappointment.

The insurance provided by Hockey Victoria only provides ‘In respect to the Personal Accident coverage the schedule of benefits should be considered as basic and entry level. Hockey Victoria encourages all players and others covered by this policy to take out private health insurance’.

The policy provides cover between 1 January and 31 December for registered members and non-participating officials including coaches, umpires, voluntary workers including co-opted voluntary workers, club committee members, office bearers, medical officers, and prospective members for the up to four weeks after initial approach.

Please do not allow children other than registered members or prospective members of your team to participate in training activities or games.

Should an accident occur to a registered player (including an injury to a registered player inflicted by an ‘outsider’), insurance cover is again liable to be compromised. Also, do not allow players who are registered with Greensborough HC, but who play in another age group – perhaps a sibling of a team member – to train with your team without approval of the Junior Coordinator. Again, insurance could be compromised in the event of an injury involving such a player.
