Farewell to Joe Hill – Men’s Premier League Coach
Joe had committed to the role for 2020, however due to impact of COVID-19, he needs to spend time focusing on his business. The club takes this opportunity to thank Joe for his contribution and commitment over the past two seasons, the club has been well served under the tutelage and guidance of Joe Hill.
New Dual Appointments – Co Coaches – Heath Simpson & Rob Zull
It is with great pleasure we announce the appointment of our new Men’s Premier League co-coaches Heath Simpson and Rob Zull. Heath and Rob are stalwarts of the club. Combined they have played more than 500 Premier League games, and both have five Premier League Premiership Medallions.
Heath and Rob have represented Victoria as players. Heath boasts significant experience playing internationally in some of the top leagues in the World and will bring unique knowledge of international playing styles to Greensborough Hockey Club. Rob has spent the past two years coaching the Under 12 Victorian Boys Team and has worked with a range of development coaches building a strong understanding of how to foster and develop junior talent.
Most notably, Rob and Heath have played with Greensborough Hockey Club since they were 10 years old. They are both respected by their peers, past and present and are truly representative of the “Burra” spirit. We are confident as this update is read, those that know Heath and Rob will have no doubt in their ability to succeed in building a new Premier League Men’s era at the club and wish nothing but best wishes for them both.
Rob and Heath’s appointment now means the club has former decorated and highly qualified coaches for both our Men’s and Women’s Premier League teams, with the guys following the path Tegan deMan has taken.
When our assistant coaches and Premier League Reserves coaches are added, we boast an outstanding group with exceptional knowledge.
On the Men’s side, Peter O’Connell has years of experience coaching and assisting at Premier League level and is as committed to the future of the Greensborough Hockey as anyone could be. Peter has been and continues to make great progress in preparing players for their next step into Premier League Hockey.
For the Women’s Premier League squad, we are delighted to have both Courtney Jacklin and James Bower involved. Courtney has spent the last 5 years developing her coaching craft and elevating herself through the grades. James is commencing his coaching journey and has already made a strong impression on the girls at the club.
Now as the revised 2020 season approaches, it is great time for all members to get behind our coaching teams and be part of the future for Greensborough Hockey Club.
