Reverse Flick Scoring

Welcome to our latest video. Today, we’re going to focus on a technique that can help you score quickly in high-pressure situations—the reverse flick.

In the D, time is often limited, and you need to make split-second decisions. That’s where the reverse flick comes in handy. While we’re familiar with using the reverse and other techniques to score, the reverse flick allows for a rapid and surprising shot. It can catch goalkeepers off guard and give you the edge you need to score.

So, how do we execute this skill effectively? There are three key aspects to remember. First, your hand positioning. Unlike other techniques where your hands are at the top of the stick, for the reverse flick, you want your hands at the bottom of the grip. Your right hand is at the bottom, while your left hand is on top. As you approach the shot, place the ball slightly to the right side.

Now comes the critical moment. Just when everyone expects you to go for a regular reverse hit, you’re going to slide your stick behind the ball and turn your hands to generate power in the opposite direction. It’s as if you’re flicking the ball with precision and speed towards the goal. Ensure your stick face is at a 45-degree angle, neither too vertical nor too flat. Keep your head over the ball and execute a quick and accurate flick.

Precision is crucial in this technique. You don’t want to flick the ball randomly and hope for the best. Aim is essential. Getting the right contact and angle on the ball is key to a successful flick. Depending on the situation, you can adjust the angle of your stick. If you want to add power, you can hold your stick more horizontally. This allows for a stronger flick without sacrificing control. On the other hand, if speed and accuracy are your priorities, maintain a slightly angled stick face and focus on a quick and precise flick.

Remember, the reverse flick isn’t just for static situations in front of the goal. You can also utilize it while on the run to surprise the goalkeeper. As you approach the goal, decide whether you want to go for a short angle or a longer shot. Then, execute the reverse flick with precision, generating power and attempting to catch the goalkeeper off guard.

Practice this technique to become proficient in executing it during high-pressure moments. With the reverse flick in your arsenal, you’ll be able to make quick decisions, surprise your opponents, and increase your chances of scoring.
