Time to pink up to support breast cancer!
On the 25th July 2015 Greensborough Hockey Club will be ‘pinking up’ as we take part in Breast Cancer Network Australia’s (BCNA) annual Pink Sports Day.
The Burra will join hundreds of sporting groups nationwide as we all pink up for the weekend to show our support for, and pay tribute to, people in our local communities who have been affected by breast cancer.
On the day we will be hosting fundraising events including a cake stall, afternoon tea, junior clinic and a raffle. a Woman of the match will be awarded during afternoon tea in the club house, everyone is invited to join us for afternoon tea.
A junior clinic will be held between 2:30pm and 3:30pm with the Women’s Premier League players.
Last year more than 900 sporting groups across Australia got involved and raised $450,000 for Australians affected by breast cancer, and their families This year BCNA hopes to raise $600,000 and is calling on all sporting groups and their communities to help them achieve this.
Funds raised through Pink Sports Day go directly to BCNA to support their work in ensuring Australians affected by breast cancer receive the very best support, information, treatment and care.
Christine Nolan, BCNA CEO said it’s important that women in communities all over Australia know they’re not alone in their breast cancer journey.
“More than 15,600 Australian women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. It’s so important that these women who are our friends, sisters, wives, mothers and daughters know that we are there to support them,” Christine said.
Members of our community are encouraged to ‘pink up’ and come down to cheer us on as we play in support of those affected by breast cancer.
