Kid’s with Special Needs

Kid’s with Special Needs – Get Involved

The Greensborough Hockey Club and Hockey Victoria have agreed to develop hockey programs in the North East of Melbourne for schools catering for kid’s with special needs. The aim of the project is to conduct coaching for these special kid’s in their school environment to give them the ability to participate in, and enjoy our game.

We are calling for interested members and supporters to get involved in this program which will start with an initial meeting with Hockey Victoria to understand the scope of the programs available and to identify schools that we could approach.

Hockey Victoria will provide guidance to the GHC volunteers to establish the project and will share their experience and guidance with the coaches.

The club will provide equipment and $20 per hour to coaches with a mixture of club funding and funding received from HV for the Northern District Hockey League utilized. Volunteers are needed to handle the administration, governance, planning, finance and coaching for the project. We are also looking for a Project Leader.

There are already people within the club who have agreed to share their experience with these kids who will also guide and mentor our volunteers. As with all of these projects the more people that participate in the project, the less work and responsibility will fall on a few individuals. We encourage young people to get involved for their own personal development and the whole club as a group to give back to those that are less fortunate. There are no age or capability limits on this one!!

As President of the club I will help establish this project and ask that expressions of interest be forwarded to me on my email bob@warringalbloodstock.com.au. Amy Coshan at Hockey Victoria on 8379 4252/ 0488 222 323  will also be happy to take any queries that you may have.

Come on – Get Involved
