Ground 2 resurface gets the go ahead

The committee of the Greensborough Hockey Club is pleased to advise members of the club and the broader hockey community that this week the Nillumbik Shire Council approved the club’s application to re-surface the Eastern Ground. The Nillumbik Shire Council will guarantee the bank loan from the Bendigo Community Bank to be re-paid over a 15 year term.

The successful contractor will be announced once the club, Bendigo Bank and the Nillumbik Shire Council have completed the necessary paperwork.

The works will be conducted over the summer months in time for stick and ball 2017 pre-season and the conduct of the Northern District Hockey League Term One 2017 program.

This is a great result for the club and the broader hockey community as GHC will provide a dual ground facility with the two hybrid surface grounds.

We thank the offices of the Nillumbik Shire Council along with Councillors Meralyn Klein and Michael Young, Hockey Victoria CEO Andrew Skillern and the Bendigo Bank for their support.

We congratulate all members of the club on the achievement of being able to totally fund this project without Council or Government financial assistance.

Nillumbik Shire Council will be project managing the works, and former President Murray Guy will assist the club with our project management efforts.

We will advise members of the successful tenderer, timing of the works and the implications of the works in due course. Updates on the project will also be posted once the works commence
