Greensborough Hockey Club Summer Hockey 2016 2017 Season

This season sees the addition of two extra teams and a few exciting changes

Competition

  • 8 teams 11 a side, up to 4 inter change
  • ONE ALL STAR per team of a PL Level to be determined by Team Managers in discussion with Stuart Young (Let the recruiting begin!)
  • 25 minute halves
  • Played on grounds 1 & 2 at GHC until December when Ground 2 resurface commences (note: the team that President Trounce plays in will always be rostered to the OLD ground)
  • Depending on ground availability game nights will be nominated as the timing of resurfacing becomes evident
  • 7pm and 8pm start times

Summer Rule Changes

The summer rules committee has adjusted three rules to help equalise the competition, and reserves the right to adjust any rules during the summer season, in the best interest of all players in the competition (and any other rule change that will upset President Trounce).

All current FIH rules apply, with the follow changes for summer only:

  • NO tomahawk shots on goal (in the interest of safety)
  • Short corner push or hit to 25 (not top of D)
    • Note, you still have 5 defenders including the GK, and generally 4 defenders run out to man-up the attackers.
  • No drag flicks

Total fees are payable at Round 1

  • Games Fees
    • $120 for 12 rounds (plus 2 finals) per player
    • Payers taking the part time option can pay as they go to be discussed with Team Managers Round 1
  • Uniforms are owned by the club and will be distributed Round 1
  • Umpires will be paid and provided
  • Fixtures
    • Competition will be run by GHC
    • Monday night will be the nominated night until December (need to be checked with Soccer Bookings)
    • Will then most likely move to Monday and Wednesday nights
    • Although we may roster a Friday night game in the new year
  • Game times – 7pm & 8pm
  • 12 rounds
  • 2 rounds of finals
  • Game results will be captured on the night
  • Results will be loaded and bragged about accordingly

Team Managers

  • Each team will have a nominated team manager
  • Email confirmation of your playing status is required to them in order to manage numbers

Uniforms

  • As part of your fees a shirt will be provided
    • If you have last year’s – return it now!!
  • Shirts will be returned to the club

Club Facilities

  • During all games the clubrooms will be open
  • The bar will be open for those a little parched after their game

Our plan here is to enjoy playing and socialising with club members that we do not normally play and train with during the winter competition. There has been great excitement around the setup of this completion.  All we ask now is that you all make it work by supporting us throughout the summer and turning each week into a great hockey experience with fellow club members.

The feedback from last year’s completion was awesome. Comments from those involved were that it was the best activity to introduce club members to each other and play alongside like-minded club members. To this day I’m personally amazed at the level of support we received. This summer season success will depend on how well YOU support us.
