Congratulations to the Casey and Nicola Hammond on being the National U/21 champions in Canberra and Hobart on Sunday.
After defeating NSW yesterday to make the Grand Final, the Under 21 Men played a tightly contested match against Western Australia, winning 2-1. Andrew Scanlon scored both goals from penalty corners. In his post match speech, captain Casey Hammond praised his team for the consistent way they played the whole tournament.
The Women defeated Western Australia yesterday to set up a Grand Final showdown against NSW. After leading 2-0, the NSW girls came back late in the game to level, but a late goal by Madi Ratcliffe clinched the victory 3-2. Captain Meg Pearce was very proud of the efforts shown by her team, especially as NSW had beaten them earlier in the pool rounds.
Well done to both the Hammonds on a fantastic tournament and achievement!
