The Club has a range of vacant positions that are requiring to be filled. if you have any spare time and are wanting to give back to the club we have plenty of opportunities. Have a chat to a committee member to see what might fit best for you.
Current Vacancies include:
Duty officers on premier league match days / tournament days – spend several hours at the club being the go to person for queries, management of volunteers, etc An hour or two of training then as few or as many days as you are willing to volunteer
Vice President (Committee) – attend board meetings monthly, assist with board-related activities, attend club functions, recruit volunteers. Steady involvement throughout the year.
Member Protection Information Officer / Inclusion Officer (on- or off-Committee) – several hours of training with Hockey Victoria, attendance at monthly board meetings, time spent on queries/ complaints throughout the hockey season expected to be low.
Masters Rep (on- or off-Committee) – be the link between the masters section and the club committee, help organise the masters section, recruit volunteers, etc. Most time required before the season and then steady commitment during the playing season.
Junior Rep (on- or off-Committee) – be the link between the junior section and the club committee, help organise the junior section, recruit volunteers, etc. Most time required before the season and then steady commitment during the playing season when attending junior meetings and comittee meetings.
Uniform Co-ordinator (Seniors & Masters) – assist with fittings, co-ordinate orders with our supplier, take payments. Most significant time commitment before the season starts each year. Less time required during the season on training nights.
Hockey Shop Manager – ideally be available from 5:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursday to assist with equipment sales. Hockey knowledge highly desirable. Liaise with Just Hockey regarding stock. Most significant time commitment before the season starts each year. Less time required during the season on training nights.
Men’s 35A Player / Manager – can also be split between 2 people. Check player commitment before the start of the season, Check availability weekly and select your team, pay umpires, enter results on HV database before the deadline to avoid fines, vote on best player, prepare season review for annual report.
Men’s 35C Player / Manager – can also be split between 2 people. Check player commitment before the start of the season, Check availability weekly, pay umpires, enter results on HV database before the deadline to avoid fines, vote on best player, prepare season review for annual report.
Men’s Pennant A coach – run training pre-season and weekly, coach at matches, Check availability weekly and select your team, pay umpires, enter results on HV database before the deadline to avoid fines, vote on best player, prepare season review for annual report.
Women’s Pennant C Coach – run training pre-season and weekly, coach at matches, Check availability weekly and select your team, pay umpires, enter results on HV database, vote on best player, prepare season review for annual report.
Canteen Manager – the canteen opens on friday nights and all day Saturday during hockey season. It can also potentially open during junior training Tuesdays and Thursday early evening. Role is to manage stock levels and the volunteer servers. Will potentially involve remuneration for the right candidate.
Person in charge of maintenance (working bees, repairs etc) – respond to maintenance requests, coordinate club tradies for repairs, organise priorities and working bees several times per year
Person in charge of Publicity – send updates to media outlets, release news on our social media channels, advertise for club roles, players and social events. Steady involvement throughout the season.
Senior umpires co-ordinator – liaise with HV and the GHC Hockey Operations Committee to ensure umpires are recruited and allocated effectively for all required games, paid as per requirements, etc. Some involvement pre-season then weekly involvement working on the match allocations and payments.
Social co-ordinator – co-ordinate the social committee and administer meetings, liaise with the club committee and finance sub-committee. Time required mainly through the season and at social events.
Person in charge of school visits – co-ordinate our coaches for school visits, liaise with club and HV, contact schools, arrange coach payments. Most time required in term 1 and 2 of school year.
Ball kids co-ordinator – recruit and co-ordinate ball kids for home MPL and WPL matches, ensure adequate numbers on the day, give out uniforms, etc. Most work will be on home match days and the week preceding each one plus updating the database of ball kids at the start of the season.
Team managers across a range of teams juniors and seniors – disseminate information from coach, junior committee and club to parents, assist coach with admin, Check availability weekly, get match books completed accurately and signed on match day, pay umpires, enter results on HV database before the deadline to avoid fines, help coach vote on best player, prepare season review for annual report. A few hours a week minimum.
Still a few junior teams requiring coaches – attend all training or arrange a replacement, attend all games or arrange a replacement, coach at matches, select your team if required, vote on best player, help prepare season review for annual report.
Someone to apply for grants – look for applicable grants, liaise with club committee to assess needs and applicability of available grants, coordinate applications to ensure requirements and deadlines are met, give feedback to relevant stakeholders within the club. An hour or two per week for the whole year, not just in hockey season, plus more time required when needing to meet submission deadlines.
